BIS was able to demonstrate the website and wildlife recording tools to people from a wide range of organisations including local schools and community project officers, with the hope of raising awareness and promoting wildlife recording.
John Bishop of the MBA found the
invasive non-native brown seaweed Undaria pinnatifida (Japanese kelp
Wakame) at Holyhead marina on the visitors berths yesterday (11th June 2014). He was surveying
there as part of a Welsh Government funded project (Resilient Ecosystems fund)
surveying marinas in Wales for non-native marine species.
This is the first record of this species in Wales but not surprising as it is has been found in several other parts of the Irish Sea recently. More informat... more
